“As long as we feel safely held in the hearts and minds of the people who love us, we will climb mountains and cross deserts and stay up all night to finish projects.”
― Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma.
Meet Jason
My journey as a counsellor has been shaped by over 15 years of experience in mental health, but it’s also deeply rooted in my love for the natural world. As an accredited counsellor, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with some of the most vulnerable individuals and communities, not just in my local area, but around the globe through humanitarian aid work. My background in Environmental Engineering and Project Management has given me a unique perspective on the connection between people and their environment, a connection I’ve always cherished. Whether I’m guiding others or finding peace myself, nature has always been my sanctuary. I’ve pursued various qualifications along the way, including an Outdoor Leadership Certificate, all with the aim of integrating my passion for the outdoors into my work.
Founding BIC-AT was a natural extension of this journey, blending my skills and passions to create a space where others can discover the healing power of nature and adventure.
Meet Erika
My journey in the field of psychology has been driven by a lifelong passion for understanding the mind and helping others navigate their own unique experiences. As an accredited teacher now pursuing a master’s in psychology at JCU, I’ve dedicated myself to exploring the complexities of neurodivergence, inspired by both my personal experiences and my professional path. Having been born and raised in Hungary, and spending the last 15 years in Spain and England, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for the nuances of cultural and communication differences, especially in the realm of psychology. My fluency in four languages allows me to connect with a diverse range of individuals, making it possible to reach and support our culturally diverse groups in meaningful ways. This journey has been about more than just education; it’s about building bridges across cultures and helping others find clarity and strength in their own journeys.

My journey started 15 months ago when I was asked to step into the field of support, since then I’ve obtained my Cert as a Licensed therapist (it seemed to come naturally ) with a focus on co-regulation techniques, hugs and gentle play - specialising in Ball Therapy 😊.
